Cellura Designs, Inc. began in 1947 as the Western Furniture Corporation when employees of a Cleveland based furniture manufacturer formed their own company.
Two of the employees were brothers, Joseph and Raymond Cellura, World War II veterans. They were pioneers in developing several manufacturing techniques and cutting edge designs.
In the early years, the Celluras manufactured products that were shown in furniture retailers throughout the Midwest. They operated a showroom used to display their designs and to act as an extension of the retail store's product offering. There, they would assist the retailers in furniture design, fabric selection and floor planning.
In 1973, the company moved all operations to their present facility in Bedford Heights, Ohio. Shortly thereafter, they began to shift their customer base from retail stores to interior designers and architects. Raymond Cellura Jr. and his brother Ron began designing products for the new customer's needs. They expanded the showroom operation to include related product lines and decorative fabrics and trimmings.
In 1997, the Cellura family celebrated their fiftieth year in business and renamed the company Cellura Designs, Inc. They have since added the Cellura Signature Collection, furniture restoration and rejuvenation and a custom occasional and cabinetry business.
